Dr. Èmil Haarhoff
Dr. Èmil Haarhoff is a freelance actor, director, choreographer and a part-time lecturer at the University of Pretoria School of the Arts: Drama. He trained as an Intimacy Practitioner through Intimacy Directors International (IDI) in the USA. He completed his Ph.D. in Drama through the University of Pretoria, focussing on intimacy direction and facilitating subjective actor discomforts during performance. He also completed his Master's Degree in Musical Theatre through the Tshwane University of Technology, with specific focus on skills-based Dramatic Arts training in secondary education. Èmil has been prominent in the performing arts in secondary education in South Africa, winning various national titles as creative and director in this context. He also has a specific interest in bodyminded (whole-body) consent and creating strategies to ensure the safety of children during intimacy on stage and screen.
Film credits include the Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation series CLAN OF THE CAVE BEAR and South African feature film VASELINETJIE. Stage credits include, amongst others: Judah in the international tour of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, Baby John in WEST SIDE STORY, Grumpy in Janice Honeyman's pantomime SNOW WHITE, John Darling in PETER PAN and Len11 in her pantomime JACK AND THE BEANSTALK, ANTONIE in BA(R)rok, Fanie in DEURnis: ANDERS and Bushy Koekemoer in the hilarious farce KOEKELOER. He is the voice behind the character Abel in RSG's radio drama RATELS, Byron van Jaarsveld in SAFM's radio drama, RADIO VUKA, Gareth in PSYCHOTIC MINDS as well as others in THE PASSION.
